Ear Wax
Although ear wax is naturally secreted by the lining in the ears and is considered beneficial, it sometimes accumulates in the ear to a harmful level. Under conditions of anxiety, stress or fear, more ear wax is secreted by the lining of the ears. Different wax products clean the ear and prevent problems that are caused by the accumulation of wax in the ears like drumming ears, giddiness, severe pain and discomfort in the ear, coughing and hearing impairment. Many of these products are advertised on television.
Electric Ear Wax Cleaner
There are many ads for products like WaxVac that operate electrically to clear away the wax from the ear. They are cordless and operate on batteries. They create a vacuum that draws out wax and moisture from the ear. It is noiseless, an also works quite quickly and efficiently. It does not cause pain and need not be inserted deep into the ear, hence preventing damage to the ear drum. As seen on ads, a user has to affix the silicone tip to it, switch it on and place it in the ear.
Ear Wax Removal Kits
There is a huge market for these kits as well. These contain an ear drop solution, a syringe or dropper made of plastic/rubber, and some cotton swabs, ear plugs, nozzle etc. that may or may not be provided in the kit. The user tilts their head sideways and puts approximately 5 to 10 drops of the solution into the ear. Using an ear plug or cotton swab, the solution is held inside the ear for about ten minutes. Then using a nozzle or syringe, water is flushed into the ear, after which the ear is dried using a towel etc. It is easy to use, and can be done twice daily. Ear Wax Vacuume

Yet another product advertised in the market, it has led lights attached to a curette with a tip shaped like tweezers. The benefit of this is that the user can see into their ear drum in case there is wax there. Thus it facilitates viewing of the amount of ear wax into the ear. The accessory or tip to be attached to the handle is of two types. There is a thin one for children and a relatively thicker one for adult use.
Ear Cleaning Tool
Another product advertised frequently, it is a slight variation of lighted ear wax removers. It also lights up to illuminate the inside of the ear for wax detection. However, it is battery operated and removes ear wax by creating a vacuum and sucking the wax out. The tweezers tip is used for removing bigger chunks of ear wax not otherwise removed.
Ear Candles
It might be banned in certain parts of the world, but not everywhere. It is still frequently used by people and believed to cure wax problems. The advertised way of using it is to place the other end of a lighted candle close to the user’s ears, which creates a vacuum and draws the wax out. However, it involves risks, and is believed to be ineffective in creating the vacuum effect.
